A young man has fronted a Hobart court on a raft of child abuse material charges.

Julian Luke Benson, 23, appeared in Hobart Magistrates Court on Monday where he pleaded guilty to 11 child abuse material related charges.

Among his charges included five counts of possessing or controlling child abuse material obtained or accessed using a carriage service, and two charges of using a carriage service to cause child abuse material to be transmitted to self.

He also pleaded guilty to three counts of using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence.

Court documents state the offences were alleged to have been committed in November 2021.

In court, his lawyer told Magistrate Chris Webster that Benson would also plead guilty to one count of breach of a bail condition, and not guilty to a second charge of breach of bail.

Mr Webster adjourned Benson’s matter to the Supreme Court on a date in March.

His bail was continued.
