THE first attempt to recover the body of Henty Gold Mine worker Cameron Goss has failed — but the site operator says progress is being made.
Mr Goss, 44, of Queenstown, was killed when the earth beneath his loader collapsed in the early hours of January 23.
The PYBAR mining services recovery team was planning to retrieve Mr Goss late last week, but on Wednesday night announced their first attempt at the “complex and challenging exercise” was unsuccessful.
“This is a disappointing outcome, but the team on site has done, and continues to do, everything possible to recover Cameron,” PYBAR CEO Brendan Rouse said.
