GEORGE Bailey’s last game in Tasmania now has much more riding on it than just sentimental value.
A win for the Hurricanes tonight over the Thunder at Blundstone Arena will have Hobart only out of the top five on net run rate only.
After a recent run of five winless games, the Hurricanes needed everything to go their way to be back in contention.
The win over the Renegades in Melbourne on Tuesday and the Heat’s loss to the Sixers last night has put the Hurricanes right back in finals contention.
It is still complicated and relies on favourable results but to make the finals:
* THE Hurricanes must win their last two games (tonight v the Thunder and against the Strikers in Adelaide on Sunday);
* HAVE the Heat lose one of its last two games (v the Stars on Saturday at the MCG or v the Renegades at Marvel on Monday);
* AND have either the Thunder (v the Hurricanes tonight at Blundstone Arena and v the Scorchers in Sydney on Sunday) or the Scorchers (v the Strikers in Perth tonight and v the Thunder in Sydney on Sunday) lose both games.
Tonight’s game starts at 6.10pm.
