THE Hurricanes have the momentum to beat anyone and now have a home final as well.
The Heat’s loss to the last-placed Renegades in the final roster game of the Big Bash League season saw Hobart finish fourth and the Hurricanes will now take on the Sydney Thunder at Blundstone Arena on Thursday night.
Cricket Tasmania chief executive Dominic Baker said the Hurricanes, led by super skipper Matthew Wade, are on fire coming off three straight wins to storm into the finals.
HURRICANES STORM INTO BBL FINALS
“If you go back to last year we blazed away to the tournament and then got to this point and got the speed wobbles a little bit,” Baker said.
“The difference here is we are peaking at the right time and as a lot of people know it is all about momentum and we will go into the finals series with absolute momentum.
“I wouldn’t think there is a team that would finish above us that would want to play us at the moment.”
Baker said to secure a home final after it appeared the Hurricanes were no chance to even make the top five just three games ago was a big bonus.
“Being a final, we would expect an excellent crowd of 10,000 plus,” he said.
“This is a great opportunity for all those Hurricanes fans to get behind the team in a final at home.
“They are on a roll and with the way we have been playing over the past three matches, what better entertainment are you going to get than coming to watch the Hurricanes at Blundstone?”
