It’s official – New Norfolk’s River Triffitt has the best mullet in the state.
Crowned a winner out of a field of 42 entries and receiving 25 per cent of total votes in the Mercury’s competition, six-year-old River is already lapping up the fame that comes with having the best locks in the state.
“His friends think it’s pretty cool and he thinks the comments and reactions of Facebook from his photo are amazing,” River’s mum Holly Triffitt said.
“I’ve told everyone at school and everyone thinks it’s really cool that I have the best hair in Tassie,” River said.
The iconic ‘business in front, party in back’ cut began as a compromise though, when sensory issues for River at the hairdresser meant haircuts became less frequent.
The struggle to find a cut that worked for River at The Gospel Barber in New Norfolk resulted in a head of hair that is the envy of all now.
“I knew he was born to stand out and now, so does his hair,” Ms Triffitt said.
“It looks so healthy and strong … it’s a real badge of honour now against the haters.”
The key to maintaining the flawless ‘do?
“When he goes to the barber, it’s just a trim on the ends and a neaten-up on the sides, plain and simple,” Ms Triffitt said.
