Territorians have less than a week to reel in a life-changing prize as the ninth Million Dollar Fish season draws to a close.
The NT government promised this season would end with a guaranteed winner of the huge cash prize, but fishos have yet to snag one of the elusive barra.
Fishos are wondering what could happen if the million-dollar fish is not found by March 31, but it is understood further announcements could be on the way if the barra evades capture to the very end.
Major Events Minister Brent Potter said there were more than 80 fish with million-dollar tags.
“The odds of reeling in the million-dollar fish have never been greater,” Mr Potter said.
“Get out there and wet a line because the Territory Labor Government wants to make someone the Territory’s next millionaire.”
Maps showing where the barra were released are available on the Million Dollar Fish website.
The prize-winning barra have been released at locations across Darwin, Kakadu, Katherine, Tiwi Islands, and Arnhem Land.
