The Gold Coast’s newest frozen dessert bar has opened at Broadbeach just in time for summer.

Goo-E Dessert Bar serves up swirls of frozen yoghurt and ice cream, topped with fruit, lollies, cookie dough and sauces.

The self-serve store by Sox Hospital Group opened on the weekend ahead of the busy holiday season.

General manager Megan Hough said Goo-E has been more than 12 months in the making.

“We saw a gap in the market of having both frozen yoghurt and ice cream,” she said.

“It’s a whole experience, we want it to be really fun and engaging.

“There’s a lot of fun colours, we’re very unapologetic and (we want customers to) build their ice cream however they want.”

Toppings include fruits, lollies, marshmallows, two types of cookie dough, and wafers plus sauces like chocolate hazelnut, salted caramel and Ice Magic.

“We want to cater to different audiences,” Ms Hough said.

“We’ve got Ice Magic and that’s quite nostalgic but then we’ve got something for kids and young families who want to grab an ice cream after dinner.”

Goo-E’s first store is on Charles Ave at Broadbeach and there are plans to open a second location at Circle on Cavill at Surfers Paradise later this month.

“We really want to capitalise on the busy period and open just in time for summer and school holidays,” Ms Hough said.

“It’s a busy time but no better time.”
