Tugun crash: Police investigate dramatic crash on Golden Four Drive

Multiple people in multiple vehicles were reportedly involved in a pursuit which ended in a dramatic crash in a quiet Gold Coast suburb. Police investigations are continuing.

Witness captured multi-vehicle crash at Tugun

Witnesses of a dramatic incident on the southern Gold Coast on Thursday are still reeling, while police continue to investigate what happened.

Emergency services were called to a multi-vehicle crash on Wyberba St at Golden Four Drive at 4.15pm on February 27.

A witness to the crash said she was walking her bike down the footpath when the events unfolded at the normally quiet roundabout in Tugun.

She said she turned around to see four cars in pursuit, tearing through the roundabout.

One car hit a pillar outside the BWS, she said, and the car behind it slammed into it.

She said within seconds two of the cars involved took off in opposite directions, and the people in the other cars made a break for it on foot.

“The workers of the gas station chased down one of the (people) and held him down until police arrived,” she said.

One person was taken into custody after the crash, but had not yet been charged, a Queensland Police Service spokesman said.

Police later clarified only two vehicles were involved in the collision, and a spokesman said police believe the matter was a domestic violence incident.

The QPS spokesman said investigations were continuing.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said paramedics could not find any patients to treat at the scene.

Unconfirmed reports from witnesses posting on social media suggested a man had been seen brandishing a knife at the scene.
