Several Gold Coast schools have reportedly been targeted in a bomb hoax, with at least one evacuating students.

A Queensland Police service spokesman confirmed a bomb threat had been emailed to “multiple schools” across the city on Monday shortly after 10am.

“Investigations quickly determined that the email was a hoax,” QPS told the Bulletin.

“No suspicious devices were located at any of the schools involved.”

Students at Helensvale State School were evacuated after the threat was received, according to a text sent to parents and carers at 2.15pm that afternoon.

“A number of schools received a threat today,” the message read.

“QPS are investigating this matter and we will follow their advice - however, at this stage QPS advises it appears to be a hoax.

“All students/staff safe.”
