Construction has begun on a new McDonald’s restaurant which the fast food giant says will create 120 new jobs on the northern Gold Coast.
The outlet at the Pimpama City centre on Pimpama Jacobs Well Rd is expected to open by the end of the year.
It will be the sixth operated by licensee Michael Power, who joined McDonald’s as a crew member 48 years ago.
“We are excited to start construction on a new restaurant in Pimpama and create 100 construction jobs, as well as a further 120 operational jobs once the restaurant opens,” Mr Power said.
“McDonald’s Pimpama City is committed to playing an active role in the local community through providing jobs, training and development opportunities, as well as supporting local causes and groups that are important to our customers and people, including Crusaders Futsal Club, Pimpama City Football Club and Upper Coomera State College for The Kokoda Challenge.”
McDonald’s confirmed the new Pimpama City restaurant would be fitted with “modern décor” and feature a dual lane drive through, McCafe and PlayPlace.
The chain is also making efforts to go green with its new outlet, which will be equipped with solar panels and LED lighting. It will also feature wheel stops containing recycled materials in the car park.
The new restaurant at Pimpama is one of 100 new McDonald’s restaurants expected to be opened nationwide by the end of 2025.
Another new McDonald’s restaurant is also currently under construction on Discovery Drive in Helensvale.
The new outlets will join more than 20 outlets already operating on the Gold Coast.
