A Marymount College student has recounted the terrifying moment a group of “knife-wielding eshays” allegedly forced students and teachers into hiding before three juveniles were taken into police custody.

A Marymount College student has recounted the terrifying moment a group of “knife-wielding eshays” allegedly forced students and teachers into hiding – resulting in three juveniles being taken into police custody.
The Burleigh Waters private school was sent into lockdown just before 3pm on Thursday “out of an abundance of caution”, according to a statement issued to parents by principal Martina Millard.
The lockdown was lifted at 3.10pm.
A Marymount College student, who asked not to be named, said an announcement came just as the home bell rang.
“An announcement came up over the speaker from Ms Millard saying, ‘This is a shelter lockdown. This is not a drill’, which was repeated twice,” they said.
“The teachers started freaking out and ushering people into the closest classroom and telling students to seek shelter.”
The student said they “ran” into one of the classroom blocks.
“A teacher yelled out to me if another teacher was in one of the classrooms and I shook my head because there wasn’t,” they said.
“She ran down, locked all the doors and told everyone to get to one side of the classroom and sit down. I had to sit underneath a desk. No one knew what was going on, not even the teachers.”
The student said they were scared and shaken.
“I was a bit scared, like my voice and hands were shaky,” they said.
The student said during the lockdown they were told not to use phones or record anything to prevent “news of the lockdown getting out”.
“No one saw the police show up,” they said.
“After the lockdown everything was fine and the teachers were very supportive.”
A Queensland Police Service (QPS) spokesperson confirmed police responded to a disturbance at the school at around 3pm following a report that a group of juveniles were threatening students.
QPS reports indicate no weapons were sighted and three juveniles were taken into police custody.
