Kristen Czyszek makes GoFundMe for Sam Hologram after horror scooter hit-and-run in Bali

A former Gold Coaster and ex-Bachelor contestant has shared the horrifying moment her partner was involved in a hit-and-run while holidaying in Bali.
Season seven Bachelor contestant Kristen Czyszek posted a video to her Instagram account on Wednesday detailing the moment her partner and freediver Sam Hologram was rushed to hospital while on holiday in Bali.
Ms Czyszek said he was hit by a man on a scooter who was driving on the wrong side of the road with no lights on.
“He hit Sam with so much force that the hospital has had to remove his spleen to save his life,” she said.
“He suffered broken ribs, a shattered spleen, cuts all over his body and life-threatening internal bleeding.
“Sam is in ICU for the internal bleeding and broken ribs.”
Ms Czyszek said Mr Hologram felt “lucky to be alive” but his heart was broken.
“One of his biggest joys in life is freediving which may be taken away forever (because of having no spleen),” she said.
Ms Czyszek started a GoFundMe on Thursday morning to help cover the hospital bills which were already costing them up to $50,000.
“Everyone that knows him will say he is the most generous person with the biggest heart,” she said.
“Please give generously. You know Sam aka Batman would in the same position.”
The GoFundMe had already raised just over $33,000 at around 9am on Thursday.
Ms Czyszek grew up on the Gold Coast and in 2023 moved to Shanghai to dedicate her time to improving her Chinese language skills.
However, just last week she was back on the Gold Coast – where she calls home – to visit friend and family.
“10 months in Shanghai have gone by so quickly,” she said.
“I’m halfway through my master’s degree, continuing on my bilingual children’s books and board games and just soaking it all in. (Shanghai) is the most incredible city.
“So happy to be home (on the Gold Coast) soaking up the sunshine.”
