The Gold Coast Suns Facebook page has been hacked twice in two days, with the club celebrating too soon after wrangling it back the first time.
The team’s page, usually awash with news about the club, its matches and its players, was flooded with an array of random content for more than 24 hours, including videos on how to husk coconuts and footage of a waterproof phone and penguins.
More than 115,000 people follow the page.
While some commenters could see the funny side of the hack, with one saying the team should “defend your Facebook as well as your D50”.
“What the hell is going on here,” fan Alexander McGuinness said.
“Dimma got em’ working hard,” another said.
Even the Brisbane Lions have got in on the action, commenting “Blink twice if you guys need help Gold Coast Suns”.
Popular funny page The 28 Year Old Male also had a dig saying “GC Suns unveil their new social media intern”.
The club regained control of its page on Tuesday afternoon and posted a humorous “celebration of our last 24 hours on Facebook”.
But the celebration was short-lived, with ridiculous non-Suns content returning at 6:15pm with an “amazing” video of fruit being sliced.
On Tuesday morning, a Gold Coast Suns spokesperson said they were aware of the issues and were working to “rectify the situation”.
“Suns fans, please note that any post made at this time is unauthorised and we apologise for any inconvenience, harm or offence caused,” the statement said.
“The club will keep fans up to date with any updates on the situation”.
