Police are hunting for three men who allegedly broke into a Gold Coast home and threatened residents with a knife.

Gold Coast police were called to the terrifying incident on Winch Court in Mermaid Waters at 2.30am on Tuesday.

A police spokeswoman said three men had entered the home before one of them, who was armed with a knife, allegedly threatened residents inside.

The three are then alleged to have stolen the residents’ grey Nissan Murano station wagon and personal possessions before fleeing the scene.

Police have since found the stolen station wagon abandoned in Crestmead.

Investigations are ongoing.
