ONE of the Gold Coast’s top OnlyFans stars says the subscription-based site was not just used by women to sell explicit images of themselves but did warn those who were keen to start a profile to “sit down and really think about your future” first.

OnlyFans is an online platform where users earn money from fans who subscribe for a month to view the user’s content.

It began from X-rated content, sex workers, adult content, and girls who posted clips and photos daily on their profile from home.

GOLD COASTERS BEFORE THEY WERE ONLYFANS STARS

But top Gold Coast OnlyFans user Teagan Kaye said the website was now used by chefs, personal trainers, musicians, artists and content creators.

HOW IT STARTED

The 21-year-old started an OnlyFans profile about 18 months ago after struggling to find work as a personal trainer.

Her subscriptions start from $15.99 per month and fans have access to exclusive content posted by Ms Kaye such as unseen photo shoots, boudoir and artistic nudes.

FULL DIGITAL ACCESS: JUST $1 A WEEK FOR THE FIRST 12 WEEKS

“I set myself a plan. I did it for 30 days and after the first 12 hours I signed up, I made $2000,” Ms Kaye said.

“That was very crazy for me to see and it opened my eyes to how much money can be made.”

The Miss Universe Australia state finalist said she was hesitant about starting an OnlyFans profile because she also thought it was a porn site.

“It’s presumed to be explicit content and that it’s just about porn but it’s important to change that stigma and I want to challenge that perception.”

CHALLENGING STIGMA

Ms Kaye’s hundreds of subscribers are the first to see her content which might range from behind-the-scenes photo shoots, art nudes to her everyday life working as a model.

“I only show topless and bare booty, that’s it, none of my lower areas.

“I see nothing that I put out there on OnlyFans and social media that wouldn’t be seen in a high-end fashion magazine.

“Obviously my target audience is men, but I do have women who join who want to start their own OnlyFans account and get some tips, and girls sign up for body confidence.

“For me, I also have people who have followed me for years (on Instagram) and seen how badly I want to be a model.

“They’re invested, they want to see me do well, and also I’m an attractive young woman.”

Ms Kaye is self-employed thanks to her OnlyFans profile but wanted to warn others thinking about joining the site to first think about their future.

THE HARD CONVERSATION

The former Sydney resident said she also sat down with her family and told them she was starting an OnlyFans account and the type of content she would be posting.

“Sit down and really think about your morals and what do you want for the future and stick by that.

“You can lose people, either family or friends, it can affect loans because it’s deemed as an unstable income.

“In the beginning, I did get a lot of hate from people in my home town … but people are getting more open to the thought of OnlyFans.”

The swimwear and lingerie model said there was also a perception that having an OnlyFans account was a quick and easy way to make money.

Ms Kaye said to be successful you had to start with a “big” social media following and prepare to work full time to keep up with the latest trends and create content to post.

“I spend hours scheduling, networking, collaborating and promoting my content. It’s all a part of the business and people don’t view it as that.

“People think we take a picture on our iPhone and post it, but that’s not how it works.”
