Gold Coast man and Logan boy arrested after wild police pursuit

Two people have been charged after a wild police pursuit from Logan to Pimpama on Thursday night.

A 14-year-old Logan Central boy and an 18-year-old Alberton man were arrested after a white Mazda 3 was allegedly stolen from Brown Plains between 7pm and 8pm.

Police spotted the vehicle at Wembley Road at Logan Central where it was tracked by Polair.

It is alleged the car was seen driving dangerously southbound along the M1 before exiting at Yatala.

Police were able to successfully deploy a tyre deflation device at Pimpama just before 10pm and the Mazda came to a stop a short time later at Mirambeena Drive, Ormeau.

It is alleged the pair fled on foot and were later arrested by officers, assisted by the Dog Squad and Polair.

The 14-year-old has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle and driving unlicensed and is expected to appear before Southport Children’s Court on Friday July 4.

The 18-year-old man has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and possession of dangerous drugs and is expected to front Southport Magistrates Court on July 17.
