Coast influencer Mitchell Orval accuses health department of not protecting those in quarantine

ONE of the Gold Coast’s leading influencers has responded to a furious backlash labelling her an anti-vaxxer, saying: “I’m not anti or pro anything”.

Chloe Szepanowski and her partner Mitchell Ovral have been in the limelight after releasing videos appearing to show them shopping without wearing masks and blasting Queensland Health.

After losing almost 40k followers on Instagram Ms Szepanowski posted a photo saying that while she uses natural remedies, she still supports western medicine.

“I stand by holistic healing and wellness as my foundation but that does not mean I am anti anything else when required,” Ms Szepanowski said.

“On my social media page, I like to share what works for me and what doesn’t.

“I like to inspire you to take care of your mind body and spirit.

“I am not anti or pro anything.

“I believe in choice.

“I believe in science, in complementary modalities and western medicine as it saves lives – they support each other.”

She also addressed the comments regarding her not wearing a mask in public.

“Where I live, I am lucky enough to have more freedoms than other places and for this I am grateful,” she said.

“I never want to come across as abusing those rights.

“It was my mistake for publicly not wearing a mask and I take ownership of that mistake.”

Mr Orval – who was silent on Instagram from August 23 – replied to her post saying he was grateful to have her influence in his life.

“I will forever be grateful for you, you changed my life for the better,” he said.

“Everything I know and everything I embody today was inspired by you.

“You made me want to be healthier, happier and live a more conscious and present life.”

Hembrow hits back over anti-vax claims

LEADING social media influencer Tammy Hembrow has hit back at a fan’s claims she is an anti-vaxxer, saying she is booked to get a Covid jab in two weeks.

The mother of two this week took aim at a follower on her YouTube channel – one of the 1.31 million subscribers – who claimed she was opposed to vaccination.

The follower said: “Unfortunately she is anti-vaxxer. (She’s besties with anti-vax influencer) Chloe Szepanowski and Mitchell Orval. That’s why she has kept quiet when everyone else has spoken out.”

Ms Szepanowski and Mr Orval have been the subject of intense public scrutiny due to their strong anti-vax views – and have lost plenty of followers because of it.

It appears the unfounded comment struck a chord with Ms Hembrow who replied directly to the follower: “I’m booked in to get it … Two weeks,” she wrote.

“I’m not nor have I ever been anti vax.”

While the comment has since been removed, social media account Aussie Influencer Opinions – currently on a crusade against anti-vaxxers – managed to screenshot the exchange.

“Tammy Hembrow has confirmed that she is booked in to get her vaccinations and she is anti-vax! Original comment wasn’t fair to assume she’s anti-vax simply because she is friends with Mitch Orval and Chloe Szep,” the moderator wrote.

Influencers smashed over controversial Covid views

August 24, 2021

GOLD Coast influencers Chloe Szepanowski and her partner Mitchell Orval have lost thousands of followers after allegedly promoting anti-vaccine and anti-lockdown views.

Ms Szepanowski, 22, a popular Instagram influencer and owner of an activewear label, has been on the receiving end of a major backlash which has seen her lose more than 20,000 followers.

In response, she shared a video on Tiktok to her 225.1k followers titled “how to continue on with your day even if you don’t agree with something”.

The video sparked more angry comments from followers.

“Not when it’s something that is significantly impacting people’s lives, physical and mental health and family and friends,” one wrote.

“But don’t worry, enjoy living comfortably in your expensive home in Queensland, it’s where you will be for the rest of your life with no vaccine.”

“Sorry bestie, not when your opinion puts the lives of other Australians at risk! CYA,” another wrote.

Partner Mitchell Orval shared a video to the pair’s Mitch and Chloe YouTube account explaining how his sister Hannah is in quarantine after returning from Melbourne.

He said she suffered from an eating disorder and was struggling with quarantine conditions.

“She facetimed me balling her eyes out and she said she wasn’t doing good,” he told his viewers.

“She said she had got a call from the public health department to check in on her mental health.

“She said ‘due to lack of fresh air and confined space and my eating disorder I am struggling’.”

He continued by saying he was exhausted talking about Covid-19 issues.

“Hannah is going to need a hand thanks to the f***ing health department doing a f***ing miraculous job of encourging her and checking on her mental health,” he said.

“Thanks for that mate, leave that job to me.”

Many commented saying they couple were privileged to be in the position they were in and should not shame the entire health department.

“I find it quite ironic that you’re having a go at the worker publicly because he gave advice on a subject he wasn’t educated on, when that is EXACTLY what you and Chloe are doing,” one said.

“That’s why we are all so annoyed with you. You are uneducated on health and public safety matters so please stop spreading anti-lockdown and anti-vax messages.”

Others asked Mr Orval to consider the strain that health staff are under.

“I would urge you to consider both the emotional and physical strain that current health workers are under during this time before you shame the entire system,” one wrote.
