Emergency services were called to Echo Beach at Tallebudgera Creek in Burleigh Heads at 6.45am to a body discovered on the rocks.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the death was non-suspicious at this time.

The sombre sight was metres from kids playing on Tallebudgera Creek beach and hundreds of walkers and runners on the Oceanview track.

Elise lives at Palm Beach and walks to the creek daily with her husband.

“We have no idea what happened but it’s horribly sad to see this,” she said.

“My heart goes out to the family.”

The area is popular with locals and tourists alike, considered one of the city’s premier swimming destinations – famous for its sparkling creek and framed by Burleigh Heads National Park.
