Detectives investigating the alleged knifepoint armed robbery of a Pimpama service station have made an arrest.
The Coles Express on Pimpama Jacobs Well Road was one of two businesses in the suburb targeted in the same night on July 25.
It’s alleged at least three masked offenders armed with knives smashed the front doors to the business to gain entry at about 4am.
A Queensland Police Service (QPS) spokesman said: “Once inside, the offenders demanded and took cigarettes and the cash register.
“They then left the scene in a Black Audi Q5 they arrived in and stole the store attendant’s Ford Focus.”
Following investigations, police charged a 19-year-old Slacks Creek man with two counts of unlawful use of motor vehicles and one count of robbery armed/in company. He is due to appear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on November 13.
In the same night, the Pearl Energy service station on nearby Yawalpah Rd was also targeted with as many as five armed teens allegedly storming the business.
A video believed to be of the incident, posted to the social media account of a known juvenile offender, shows what appears to be a worker opening up the till and handing over the drawer full of cash.
Some of the juveniles appear to have their faces uncovered.
The incident unfolds quickly – the offenders leaving the store with a handful of cash – walking outside to a waiting car.
One of the teens can be seen running out of the service station carrying a pallet of soft drink.
Police are unsure whether the same group of offenders are linked to both incidents. Investigations are continuing.
