A trio of Lions have broken a longstanding drought in the clash with North Shore after collecting an insane amount of the football.

Oliver Tate, Brock Williamson and Logan Wagener became the first group of teammates to record at least 40 touches in the same game of football since at least 2019.

Tate led the way with 42 disposals, while Wagener continued his impressive stretch of football with 41 and Williamson had 40 touches.

There has not been a game in the past three seasons where three teammates have recorded 40 or more disposals, while only twice in 2022 did two teammates hit the mark.

Current Giants David Handley (48) and Noah Gribble (41) achieved the feat in round 9, 2022, with Gribble featuring again in round 10 when he collected 45 touches alongside former teammate Baxter Mensch, who had 41.

Lions skipper Marcus Thompson also recorded a massive performance, with 34 touches and six goals in the huge win over North Shore.

His six goals led the competition for the round, with Colac’s Luke Hillman booting 5.4

In other games, Giant Tanner Lovell had a massive 42 disposal game, tying Tate for most disposals in round 8.

Lovell also led the way for clearances with 14 recorded in the loss to Bell Park, with St Albans captain Jacob Russell also in double figures with 12 in the loss to Colac.

Giants ruck Tylar Watts led the competition for hit outs with 46, as well as tackles with nine, tying with Lara’s Connor Linehan-Cunningham.
