Woman dies, child injured after fatal Swan Bay crash

The victim of a fatal multi-car collision at Swan Bay on Sunday has been revealed as a 35-year-old Queenscliff woman. A man has been charged.

A man has been charged over a multi-car collision on the Bellarine Peninsula which killed one woman and hospitalised three others on Sunday.

Emergency services were called to the corner of Swan Bay and Queenscliff roads after 1.20pm.

It is believed a car was struck by another vehicle travelling eastbound on Swan Bay Rd and rolled on its side.

Another vehicle that was travelling northbound on Queenscliff Road was then struck and rolled on its roof.

A 35-year-old Queenscliff woman died died at the scene, while a woman in her 40s, a man in his 30s and a preschool-aged boy were taken to Geelong hospital.

All three were believed to be in a stable condition with minor injuries.

A 64-year-old Geelong man, who was the driver of the eastbound car, was charged with dangerous driving causing death.

He was granted bail and will appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court on Monday 21 March.
