Shocking fight at Lara Secondary College caught on camera

Shocking footage has emerged of two students brawling inside a toilet cubicle at a high school in the Geelong region.

Fight at Lara Secondary College

A student has been brutally attacked by another pupil inside a toilet cubicle at a Lara school, with the disturbing incident caught on camera.

Video of the violent brawl at Lara Secondary College shows a group of girls gathering in the bathroom before a female student pushes her way into a cubicle, allegedly initiating a fight with another girl who was inside it.

A concerned parent said his child, who was not involved, was fearful to return to school after the “disgusting” incident, believed to have happened on Tuesday.

A person filming the fight was lurking inside another cubicle and ran towards the girls as it began.

While standing over the toilet, the two brawling girls slap and punch each other.

It is believed the students involved are in year 9 and the person filming is in year 11.

The student who was burst in on repeatedly yells at the other to “f--king stop” while the other says “kick me again dog”.

Other students can be heard yelling in the background.

It is believed the video has been shared around students at the school.

It is understood police were not called to the school after the fight.

A Department of Education spokesman said the brawl was an isolated incident.

“Any instances of violence or bullying at schools are completely unacceptable,” the spokesman said.

“The incident has been referred onto Victoria Police.”

It’s understood support has been offered to impacted students and those involved have been disciplined.

The parent claimed the school knew about violent behaviour on campus.

“I don’t think they are doing enough,” he said.

A number of schoolyard brawls in Geelong have been filmed and shared to social media.

In February last year, police were called to Sacred Heart College in Newtown after a student was brutally attacked.

Footage of the incident circulated social media and at least two students were suspended after the assault.

In 2022, two girls were filmed brawling at Geelong High School and the footage was allegedly shared on Snapchat.

eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant said the regulator received frequent cyberbullying reports about school fight videos posted to social media.

“Sometimes these videos involve willing participants in a kind of fight club-style scenario, but they can also involve children who are unwilling victims of unprovoked physical attacks,” she said.

Ms Grant said the videos would be deeply distressing for victims who had been assaulted.

“Cyberbullying can often be traced back to conflicts happening within the school gates, and we tend to see this kind of behaviour drop off during school holidays and reignite during the school term,” she said.
