An expectant father who wants to change his ways has been jailed after pleading guilty to more than 100 charges.

Travis Kenyon, 21, fronted the Geelong Magistrates Court via videolink from prison this week, having earlier pleaded guilty to 112 charges, including obtaining property by deception, burglary, theft, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, unlawful assault and numerous driving offences.

Magistrate Ann McGarvie convicted and jailed the Corio man for six months, less 76 days already served, to be followed by an 18-month community corrections order (CCO).

Court documents released to the Geelong Advertiser reveal Kenyon frequently stole from cars across the Geelong region, often using stolen bank cards to make purchases.

Kenyon, who has never held a driver’s licence, was also nabbed driving several times, including in an unregistered vehicle and separately with ice in his system.

He led police on chase in April, driving through red lights, narrowly missing a service station attendant and driving the wrong way on the Princes Hwy.

He also punched a woman in the head in July last year.

In one spree spanning August 3-12, Kenyon and a 15-year-old female co-accused stole from several cars in Mount Duneed, Lara and Armstrong Creek.

On August 8, a man was dragged 100m when he tried to stop his 2016 Renault Captur from being stolen, court documents state.

The man was exercising in Pevensey Park when he saw his car’s lights turn on and sprinted over, grabbing onto the door.

He spent three days in hospital after sustaining “significant injuries”.

Kenyon and his co-accused were captured on CCTV in the stolen car two days later, before Kenyon dumped the stolen Renault in a Newtown carpark on August 12.

On June 19, Kenyon broke into a Holden ute in Belmont, stealing a wallet and using the victim’s bank card to make 21 transactions in a roughly three hour period.

Kenyon’s crimes continued this year, as he stole from a car, shoplifted Nike shoes and assaulted a 7/11 worker in January.

The shop attendant had offered Kenyon and another female co-accused a basket as they browsed the Swanston St store.

The pair fled the store, but the victim grabbed the co-accused’s handbag and pulled her back inside.

Kenyon ran back in and “front-kicked” the victim in the chest before his co-accused kicked the victim twice in the chest.

In February, Kenyon stole an electric mountain bike from a Corio home, leaving fingerprints on a car’s doorhandle after stopping to try it as he fled the scene.

Police searched Kenyon’s home on February 19, finding ice, a knuckleduster and various stolen cards.

In sentencing Kenyon, Ms McGarvie said she took into account Kenyon’s age, circumstances, pleas and the submissions made on his behalf by his lawyer, Matilda Jones.

The court heard Kenyon had indicated he’d changed the way he wanted to live, now he was set to become a father.

Ms McGarvie said she hoped Kenyon would “remain of the same view” upon his release.

Kenyon was also fined $1500 plus costs, and was disqualified from driving for two years.
