A man has been left in a critical condition after being ejected from his ute which disintegrated on impact with a power pole north of Geelong.

A man has been left in a fight for his life after part of his ute disintegrated on impact with a power pole north of Geelong.
Emergency services responded to reports of a crash in Lovely Banks near Geelong Baptist College just before 5am on Wednesday.
Police understand a black Holden ute struck a power pole on Anakie Rd.
The driver, a man in his 20s who was the only occupant of the ute, was ejected from the Holden which police said disintegrated on impact.
The man was flown to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition, after being treated for life-threatening upper and lower body injuries.
The scene as the sun came up on Wednesday morning painted a grim scene, with bits of debris scattered across both lanes of the road.
What appears to be the engine of the car could be seen some 20m from the vehicle, while part of a fence at a nearby house was destroyed.
Geelong Baptist College was open as usual, with police directing school drop off traffic away from the crash.
Anakie Rd, between Lovely Banks and Emmersons roads, was expected to be closed until late morning, with commuters encouraged to drive with caution and allow extra time through the area.
The Victoria Police investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
