Lara’s Talia Buttigieg is selling off her extensive Barbie collection, hoping to kick start a new adventure.

The 11-year-old has collected 50 Barbie dolls over nine years, purchasing each one with pocket or birthday money, and receiving some as gifts.

Mum Louise said Talia had been interested in the varieties of the doll available.

“She started seeing all these different sets,” Ms Buttigieg said.

“She collected everything that was available in the store.”

Ms Buttigieg said Talia is selling the collection, piece by piece, in order to allow other kids to enjoy the dolls, and to free up storage for her new interest.

“She wants to get into jewellery making,” Ms Buttigieg said.

“She’s keen to get that side hustle happening. She’s a bit of a go getter.

“It’s about storage – she wants to go to (this) next adventure, which needs space.

“Talia’s moving on, and not playing with (the dolls) as much any more.

“She wants someone else to have some fun with it as well.”

Ms Buttigieg said it was difficult knowing this marked another closed chapter of Talia’s childhood.

“She’s growing up too quick,” she said.

“It’s such an innocent thing, playing with all the dolls.

“When they tell you they’re ready to move on, you listen.

“This means she’s not a kid anymore … the teenage years are coming!”

Ms Buttigieg said Talia has kept a few of her favourite dolls aside, as a memento of her collection.
