A disability support worker from Geelong is hoping to become Australia’s next reality TV singing superstar on a highly-anticipated reboot.

A local disability support worker is hoping to become Australia’s next singing superstar.

Keziel Macgregor from Geelong is set to audition for the upcoming reboot of Australian Idol with her rendition of ‘Kiss Me’ by American rock band Sixpence None The Richer.

The 27-year-old is expected to make a statement in her first audition, wearing a warrior armour costume that she has made herself from scratch.

A long list of local talent have previously launched their music careers on reality singing competitions including Kim Cooper, Taylor Henderson and Stellar Perry.

Cooper, who competed in Australian Idol in 2009, told the Geelong Advertiser last year the show helped her to understand the potential of her voice.

“I always describe my time on the show as the highs were high and the lows were low,” she said.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would actually get in.”

This season of Australian Idol will feature thousands of young aspiring singers hoping to for a spot in the top 50.

The four judges, American musicians Harry Connick Jr and Megan Trainor, controversial radio host Kyle Sandilands and Australian singer-songwriter Amy Shark, will narrow the top 50 down to 12 artists who will sing in the live performance round of the competition.

The winning contestant will receive a recording contact with Sony Music and $100,000 in prize money.

Keziel Macgregor’s episode of Australian Idol will air on Monday February 6.
