Geelong music calendar grows with The Squeeze heading to Mt Duneed Estate

Proposed new words for Australian national anthem gain momentum

Lime Cordiale will bring their annual travelling music festival, The Squeeze, to Mt Duneed Estate in April.

The ARIA award winners have hand-picked a line-up of Australian talent who will join the band on their 12-date tour in April and May.

It’s just one of the slew of music events announced for the Geelong region over recent weeks, with live entertainment fans desperate to get their fix.

All the rockin’ excitement starts on December 11 with the Bellarine Music Festival, which will see performances from Brian Mannix, Ross Wilson and The Peaceniks, Daryl Braithwaite and The Black Sorrows over five dates.

The organisers of the Queenscliff Music Festival last week announced the new By The Pier festival would come to the region from March 25-27, 2022, with the likes of San Cisco and Julia Stone, Didirri and Vera Blue taking the stage.

Last week it was revealed Midnight Oil will be stopping off at Mt Duneed Estate on March 5, 2022 for A Day on the Green, as part of their last ever tour, while the same venue will host international superstars The Killers — but not until December 2022.

The latest travelling roadshow, The Squeeze, has been taken on the road by Lime Cordiale twice before, but the new partnership with A Day on the Green and Roundhouse Entertainment will see the festival head to Geelong on April 16 for its only Victorian show.

Founders of Lime Cordiale, Oli and Louis Leimbach, said The Squeeze had grown from an indoor event to a major outdoor national festival.

They will be joined on tour by artists including Thelma Plum, Client Liaison and The VANNS.

“After the industry has been hit so hard it’s a great feeling to know that we’re pulling this off,” they said

“We share a great vision with Chugg Music to be able to achieve something more than just making records.

“This project is for the music industry and the hungry music lovers.”

Roundhouse Entertainment promoter Michael Newton said he was thrilled to have Lime

Cordiale join the a day on the green family.

“We’ve been putting on shows since the Lime Cordiale boys were just kids, but our main ethos has always been about supporting Australian talent, new and established,” he said.

“The Squeeze is the best of both worlds – people who love Lime Cordiale can come and enjoy their music and the a day on the green experience – as well as the other acts on the bill hand-picked by Louis and Oli. It’s a win-win for everyone.
