Geelong group discovers -rare- paranormal activity in Echuca

A Geelong group of paranormal investigators claims to have had a “rare” interaction with a spirit in an alleyway with a dark past.

Chasers of the Paranormal’s Martin Stevenson said the group conducted an investigation in an alley next to the Star Hotel, a popular restaurant in Echuca, on January 6.

Since the 1800s, more than 20 murders have occurred in the alley, Mr Stevenson said.

“We were not alone,” he said.

“The medium with us had a stabbing feeling in the side of her ribs.

“She was feeling what someone may have felt in that alley.”

Mr Stevenson said the group was receiving strong readings during a two-hour period.

“It was a paranormal investigator’s dream,” he said.

The group used two main pieces of equipment; a long rope with electromagnetic field (EMF) detectors and a radiating electromagneticity (REM) pod.

“In theory, spirits put out electromagnetic fields when they are in the area,” Mr Stevenson said.

“The EMF detectors change colours depending on how strong the EMF is and that can show where the spirit is walking.

“The REM pod emits its own electrical field and anything that goes in that field that is unseen shows up with coloured light.”

The colours range from green to orange and red, which means the spirit is close.

“We were asking the spirit to change the colours on the machine and it was responding with the colours we were asking,” Mr Stevenson said.

A photo of the location also revealed a black figure walking through the alley.

“That one photo is one of five photos of exactly the same spot and only in that one photo does the black figure appear,” Mr Stevenson said.

“It is a very humanoid figure, you can see the body and one leg.

“It’s a very rare capture.”

The group also conducted a short investigation on the paddle steamer PS Pevensy which was “fairly quiet”.

They also visited the Cobbin Homestead and Chapel in Grovedale in September.

Mr Stevenson described the energy he felt as soon as they entered the cellar inside the homestead as “amazing”.

“I was standing on the staircase that led down to the cellar and I asked, in pitch darkness, if I could have an indication there was a spirit present and I heard an audible growl in my ear,” he said.

“That was another rare occasion, that you actually get an audible sound.”
