Geelong Cat Jed Bews has joined forces with hospitality duo Josh and Katie Armstrong to launch a new cafe in Geelong’s CBD.
Betty’s officially opened its doors last week, welcoming a steady flow of eager customers into the stylish new space.
Located in Moorabool St, the cafe is next to pilates hotspot Upstate Studios.
The venture is the latest for the Armstrongs, who own popular Newtown cafe Blank Space.
Mr Armstrong secured the keys to the new site in March, and it wasn’t long before Bews joined the project, doing most of the shop fit himself.
“Josh and Katie already have Blank Space, and I’ve got a little bit of experience with building … so combine those two and we came out with a café,” Bews said.
The premiership winning Cat said the lack of cafes in the area made bringing Betty’s to Moorabool St a “no-brainer”.
“I know how big that culture is of doing your workout, then going to get a coffee, so we’re excited to fill that gap,” he said.
Betty’s serves up fresh bagels and an array of sweet treats, with smoothies and milkshakes coming soon, but Bews said the coffee would be the star of the show.
“We want to be known for good coffee first, and quick and easy service so people can just grab and go,” he said.
“We’re just excited for what’s to come.”
