Corio man to face court after police raid over alleged phone scam
An alleged Corio scammer allegedly had $16,000 and ID documents belonging to 50 people when he was arrested over a phone scam with an elderly victim.

An alleged Corio scammer has been charged and thousands of dollars in cash seized after a police raid in on Friday.
Officers from Waurn Ponds police station executed a search warrant on a Kosciuszko Ave address in Corio early Friday morning.
The raid was part of an investigation into a phone scam involving an alleged 80-year-old victim.
Police allege the accused withdrew $1000 from the victim’s bank account and used a credit card to purchase $9000 of electrical goods.
During the raid, police allegedly found $16,000 in cash and identity documents such as driver’s licences and bank cards belonging to more than 50 people, along with numerous mobile phones, SIM cards and gift cards.
A 30-year-old Corio man was arrested at the scene and has been charged with deception offences and processing proceeds of crime.
He was bailed to attend the Geelong Magistrates’ Court on April 22.
