Belmont bakery Cara Mia Cake has closed less than two years after opening.

The closure of the popular bakery was announced on social media last week.

“One of my last posts. I’m excited for the future. But also grieving closing down what can only be described as part of my soul,” the post read.

“I’m working through the admin. I have my bookkeeper helping make sure everything is finalised correctly.

“The sale has gone ahead very quickly and our moving and has been fast tracked to within the next week instead of mid to late April.”

The post said the business would arrange refunds for all outstanding cake orders.

“If you are a local cake biz with capacity for extra cakes please dm me here so I can make arrangements with you.”

A week earlier, vision was posted to the account which appeared to show the aftermath of an attack on the shop by vandals.

The business was opened in April 2020 by Cara Tonkin who said she had always had a love for baking.

“I’m almost 40 now and I feel like a lot of women my age think that if their dreams haven’t happened by now they’re not going to,” Ms Tonkin said at the time.

“But I’ve finally achieved my dream.”
