A body discovered in Barwon River has shattered hopes for the family of Bradley Davies, just days after police concluded he was no longer in the area.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said police would prepare a report for the Coroner following the discovery of a man’s body in Barwon River off Swanston St in South Geelong on Sunday.

“The body, which is yet to be formally identified, is believed to be that of missing man Bradley,” she said.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious.”

Mr Davies was last seen on Balliang Street around 8.30am on Wednesday 12 November, when he was captured on CCTV entering Corner Boxing Co gym.

In the days following his “out of character” disappearance, his family called for community help as police conducted an extensive search of the Barwon River.

The search, which involved the air wing, drone unit, mounted branch and water police, was called off on Friday afternoon.

Waurn Ponds Senior Sergeant Kylie Power said on Friday police believed he was no longer in the Barwon River area after failing to locate any trace of the 35-year-old.

News that the search for Bradley Davies had ended in tragedy emerged just hours after authorities confirmed a similarly tragic outcome in the search for a missing Yarraville man.

A body, believed to be that of 45-year-old Simon, was found after an extensive search in Bellbrae, Torquay and Anglesea.

Victoria Police spokesman John McLaughlan said: “Police will prepare a report for the Coroner following the death of man following a search in Bellbrae on November 16.

“The deceased, who is yet to be formally identified, is believed to be missing man Simon.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
