A man has pleaded guilty to causing the death of a motorcyclist in Leopold in August last year.

Benn Rain, 35, was supported by an entourage of family and friends as he entered a guilty plea in the Geelong Magistrates Court on Tuesday, following the resolution of several factual disputes.

The Leopold man pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle in a manner that was dangerous to the public on August 4, 2023.

The court heard Rain drove through a red light before colliding with the motorbike about 6.40am at the intersection of Melaluka Rd and the Bellarine Highway.

The victim, Jesse Heath, sustained critical injuries and later died.

Rain was granted bail on the condition that he surrender his passport, refrain from attending any points of international departure, abstain from driving, and promptly notify authorities of any change of address within 24 hours.

Rain will appear in court at a later date.
