At Pilates in central Geelong to offer reformer classes 24 hours a day

Geelong’s first pilates studio to offer classes 24 hours a day is set to open this weekend.

A new fitness studio in central Geelong is set to offer pilates classes 24 hours a day.

At Pilates on Ryrie St features six reformer pilates machines plus an infra-red sauna and space for mat classes.

Locals can book a 60 minute session on the hour via an app and can pick from about 200 beginner, intermediate and advanced classes to follow, ranging from 15 to 55 minutes.

Participants wear wireless headphones during the class, and accessory equipment, including dumbbells and pilates rings, is also available to be used.

Owner Kirsteen Warrington said many people couldn’t make it to scheduled pilates classes, including busy mums and shift workers.

“I love the concept of making it available for everyone and anyone,” she said.

“To be able to offer this to them, it’s next level.

“Often it’s hard to get staff and pilates teachers, so the fact we don’t need that is a game changer.”

Ms Warrington, who also owns Samana Yoga in Queenscliff and used to compete internationally in taekwondo, said it took about six months to convert the building at 88 Ryrie St into a “relaxing” pilates studio.

“It’s very calming with lots of plants and greenery and it’s a beautiful environment to work out in,” she said.

Ms Warrington said there were a huge variety of classes on offer, including for men and pregnant women.

“Just do it, you’ll love it,” she said.

“It’s a strength and flexibility workout at the same time.

“After that first session, you’ll fall in love with reformer pilates.”

At Pilates opens this Saturday and locals are encouraged to visit the studio between 3pm and 5pm for a tour and some nibbles.
