Geelong Cat Mark Blicavs announces engagement

Cat Mark Blicavs has proposed to his long-term girlfriend Georgia Minear during Geelong’s week off.

Geelong veteran Mark Blicavs and long-term partner Georgia Minear have announced their engagement.

Ms Minear shared the news to her Instagram page on Wednesday, posting a happy photo of the couple smiling and showing off an engagement ring.

The picture was captioned: “Extra special bye round”.

It’s understood the engagement took place in Torquay.

Cats captain Patrick Dangerfield and retired player Isaac Smith congratulated the happy couple.

Smith wrote: “Love this!!!”.

Current star Sam De Koning said: “Soooo good!!! Congrats.

While Emma Hawkins, wife of retired star Tom Hawkins, wrote: “It’s just the best ever.”

The official Geelong Cats Instagram page also joined the celebration, reposting Minear’s announcement with the caption: “Love is in the air. Congratulations to Mark and Georgia on their engagement!”

Blicavs has enjoyed an extensive and impressive career with the Cats, making his debut in 2013.

He has played in more 250 games, including the 2022 premiership.

Blicavs has twice been awarded the Carji Greeves Medal and earned an AFL All Australian selection in 2022.
