It’s time to dust off the gloves and polish your bats, cricket’s back in the Far North.

First grade has already got stuck in the action after the Christmas break, with other grades set to return this weekend.

Despite the head start by the top grade, Mulgrave Punjabi’s (2nd grade) Ranjodh Singh Yodha still leads the entire competition with his 20 wickets.

He holds a three-wicket cushion on Barron River’s Jack Sell (3rd Grade, 17 wickets), who sits in outright second after a sensational spell against Mareeba.

First grader Josh Chadwick (Rovers, 15 wickets) gained ground for his respective competition, after showing no mercy against Atherton in the Muoio-Ferguson Cup, finishing 3-31.

The Mulgrave run scoring machine walloped 79 runs in his latest game against Barron, launching him over Rovers young gun Marcus Carruthers (Jimmy Maher Gold, 317 runs) in taking the top spot.

Barron batter Andrew Phelps overtook running mate Adam Trewin to cap off the top five after his 45-run haul against Mugrave.
