The Flinders Shire Council have released a statement regarding the immediate resignation of chief executive officer Hari Boppudi.
A statement from Flinders Shire Council said “significant” queries from the public had led them to make the statement, revealing an investigation was conducted by the Crime and Corruption Commission into “allegations of suspected corrupt conduct”.
Following advice from the council’s legal team, the finding were passed on to the Queensland Police Service, who advised they will not be taking the matter further.
”The Queensland Police Service also advised that the Crime and Corruption Commission believed the immediate resignation by the former Chief Executive Officer mitigated council’s risk in relation to the situation,” the statement read.
Flinders Shire Council said Mr Boppudi was issued a show cause notice asking for an explanation as to why his employment shouldn’t be ended. Mr Boppudi responded by resigning ”effective immediately”.
