Elderly woman taken to Katherine Regional Hospital after alleged group break in, assault

A group of four are on the run after they allegedly broke into an elderly woman’s home and pulled her towards a smashed glass window.

A group of four are on the run after they allegedly broke into an elderly woman’s home and pulled her through a smashed window.

About 3.30am on Wednesday, NT Police received reports of a group of up to four alleged offenders who had broken into a home on Cox Crescent, Katherine, by smashing a window.

Police said the elderly resident woke up to the noise and used a shovel in an attempt to stop the group from entering through the window.

It was alleged the offenders then pulled the woman toward the smashed glass window and she sustained minor injuries.

She was taken to Katherine Regional Hospital for medical assessment.

The alleged offenders fled the scene before police arrival.

Strike Force Cerberus have carriage of the investigation, according to NT Police.

NT Police said it believes an unlawful entry at a separate residence nearby may be linked to the same alleged offenders.
