An St Helens man has become an overnight millionaire after winning $1.3 million in Saturday’s TattsLotto draw – but his family thought it was all “another trick”.
The family of a St Helens man reportedly thought the lucky winner was “pulling a prank” on them over the Easter long weekend after he proclaimed he won big in the draw.
The man was one of the four division one winners in the TattsLotto draw on Saturday April 16 – each winner took home $1,355,719.73
The man told an official from TattsLotto he didn’t blame his family for being sceptical, admitting he was a serial prankster and had tricked plenty in the past.
“I checked my ticket after the draw and said, ‘well, that’s not too bad, I’ve won a thousand dollars’, but then I looked closer and just started jumping up and down and yelling that it was more than a million,” he said.
“None of my family reacted.
They all thought I was playing another trick on them. I don’t blame them. Honestly, I’m a bit of a prankster.
“What a great Easter,” the man exclaimed.
The man said he was still coming to terms with the enormity of his win.
“You just never think it will happen to you. Now it has, I still feel like I’m in shock,” he said.
“I’ll buy a new car and a few other things, but it’s just fantastic to know we’ll live comfortably now for the rest of our lives.”
His life-changing System 7 QuickPick was purchased online.
The winning numbers on Saturday were 37, 15, 11, 23, 14, 12, while the supplementary numbers were 20 and 42.
