DEC and Wilkinsons Point sale meeting locked in as NBL bid hits overdrive
It appears it is all systems go in Tasmania’s return to the NBL with a significant step locked in for later this week.

THE first piece of the NBL puzzle is about to fall in place with the imminent sale of the Derwent Entertainment Centre.
The Glenorchy City Council has put a notice in today’s Mercury about a special council meeting this Friday at noon.
BALL IN COUNCIL’S COURT FOR DEC PLANS
“The purpose of the meeting is for Council to consider the potential sale of the Derwent Entertainment Centre and Wilkinsons Point,” it reads.
The DEC will be sold to the Tasmanian Government which will then invest $40 million in an upgrade to bring it up to NBL standards, while Wilkinsons Point will be sold to NBL owner and property investor Larry Kestelman.
DERWENT ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE WILL REMAIN OPEN FOR BUSINESS
Kestelman plans to create a $200 million shopping, restaurant and hotel precinct at Wilkinsons Point and bring Tasmania back into the NBL as the 10th team for the 2021-22 season.
