Footage has been captured of a crocodile chilling on the rocks at popular Darwin gathering spot.
The ancient predator was captured on camera while laying on rocks at Nightcliff Jetty on Sunday, January 28.
Nightcliff resident Vaibhav Patel said he was down at the jetty at around 5.55pm when he spotted the crocodile.
He estimated the restful reptile was about “two and a half to three feet” long.
“It was in front of the jetty car park near the boat ramp,” Mr Patel said.
There were plenty of people around at the time of the sighting, Mr Patel said, with the crowd number growing once word of the sighting got out.
Some spectators proved braver than others.
“I think around 15 to 20 went up to enjoy the croc closely,” Mr Patel said.
“From the car park there would have been more than 30 people watching it.”
Mr Patel said the croc was there for over and hour before it entered the water and disappeared.
