TASMANIA’S coronavirus toll has climbed to 10, after the State Government confirmed three more people had contracted the virus.
The three people – a woman and two men, all aged in their 40s – have recently travelled to the state from overseas.
In a statement on Wednesday night, the State Government said the latest cases were all in southern Tasmania.
Public Health Services said it was investigating the three new cases and would be contacting their close contacts so they can be placed in quarantine.
Health Minister Sarah Courtney has said so far all Tasmanian cases of the virus are directly linked to people or involve people who arrived in Tasmania from overseas.
Up until Wednesday, the state had recorded seven cases – the seventh a close contact of an overseas traveller.
The seventh case, a woman in her 50s, was being kept in isolation in a stable condition.
Of the remaining cases, five are stable and remain in isolation receiving medical care and another case has been discharged from hospital.
National coronavirus cases are approaching 560, an increase of 400 in five days, and six people have died.
Of the 81,000 people tested, 99.5 per cent have been negative.
