FOUR new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Tasmania on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases diagnosed in the state to 66.
Three cases were associated with the cruise ship Ovation of the Seas and one with Voyager of the Seas.
All of these cases were already in self quarantine.
Director of Public Health, Mark Veitch, said they continue to investigate two cases of coronavirus in the Devonport area to identify possible sources of their infection.
It is thought these may be the state’s first cases of community transmission as neither case had travelled overseas or been on cruise ships in the two weeks before their illnesses.
Public Health Services has established a Public Health Response Team to investigate the two cases.
An Incident Management Team is leading the investigation into potential workplace sources of infection for the case who works at the Mersey Community Hospital.
It comes as Tasmania introduces mandatory isolation for all arrivals in hotels across the state.
