A Colac mum is asking for community assistance to raise funds for a vital vehicle upgrade for her son, who lives with a disability.

Pam Dunlop has launched a GoFundMe campaign in an effort to raise money for her three-year-old son, Logan.

Logan lives with Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum – the absence of the part of the brain that connects the two hemispheres – as well as a number of other issues including non-verbal communication, vision issues, epilepsy, and an unknown genetic condition.

Ms Dunlop said with each growth spurt Logan goes through, it becomes harder for herself and her husband to lift Logan in and out of the car when travelling for appointments.

She said a bigger vehicle is needed as Logan “won’t ever walk” and he has frequent appointments in Geelong and Melbourne to attend.

“Basically he’s growing and developing very quickly,” Ms Dunlop said.

“Just lifting him in and out of the car is near impossible.

“I’ve got a back injury … and you can’t using a lifting machine for a car – they’re not built for that purpose.”

Ms Dunlop said being able to afford an appropriately sized vehicle with the help of the community would “make a world of difference” for Logan’s quality of life.

“We find we don’t take him a lot of places because lifting him is quite difficult,” she said.

“We’ll be able to take him to see family, and go for drives.

“It will just be so great.”
