A Northern Territory nurse’s registration has been cancelled by Australia’s peak health registry body, a move it says was at the directive of a Territory tribunal – which in turn put a non-publication order on its decision.

The nurse – who this masthead cannot name due to the non-publication order – had their registration cancelled at the beginning of February by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

An AHPRA and National Boards spokesperson said the agency cancelled the nurse’s registration on February 4 after the Northern Territory Civil and Administrative Tribunal “issued orders which resulted in (the nurse) being included on the Register of Cancelled Practitioners”.

The orders came after a closed hearing took place in the Casuarina conference room in Darwin on January 31.

This masthead requested a copy of the orders, but was refused by the Tribunal, which cited the non-publication order as the reason for refusal.

A NT Health spokesperson said the nurse had not worked for NT Health since 2022.

“NT Health does not comment on individual staff members,” the spokesperson said.
