The son of infamous standover man Mark “Chopper” Read has indicated he will plead guilty to a dangerous driving charge, but will fight one count of aggravated assault.
Charles Vincent Read, 24, appeared in the Supreme Court in Hobart on Monday by videolink from Risdon Prison before Chief Justice Alan Blow.
Through his lawyer Caroline Graves, Read indicated he would plead guilty to the dangerous driving charge, but not guilty to a separate count of aggravated assault.
The dangerous driving charge relates to an incident in February this year in which a white Toyota Corolla was reported driving erratically in New Norfolk.
The vehicle was eventually spiked in Bridgewater, before it was found abandoned in the Pontville Cemetery.
Chief Justice Blow remanded Read in custody to reappear in court on 30 January 2024 at 10am.
