Ending the year in a cacophony of colour, Unity Performing Arts Studio will host its end of year concert, Welcome to the Circus, at Bulmba-Ja Arts Centre on Sunday, December 8.
Studio owner Sabine Zavari said the show was a culmination of the students hard work through the past eight months.
“We do dance genres from ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, acro, hip hop and aerial silks as well, so there will be all different circus acts within the dance styles,” Ms Zavari said.
“Normally we do a story every year – last year we did The Nutcracker, but this year we thought let’s do a fun showcase where all the groups are evenly displayed.”
Ms Zavari said the show, which will feature around 110 performers, would highlight the talents of each dancer in an ensemble, rather than featuring a host of solo performances.
“We want to try to highlight every student in the show and try to mix it a bit so everyone can have a good position and get their sparkle on stage,” she said.
“They love performing so much and because dancing is a performing art we try to give as many opportunities for them as we can.”
Ms Zavari said she was excited not only to see the “fun and colour” of the circus, but to see the pride in her performers and their families.
“I’m excited to see all the students have fun and to have their moment on stage and enjoying it,” she said.
“And to see the families being happy to see their children do what they love doing.”
The studio will host two shows on Sunday, December 8 at 10.30am and 4pm.
