Two teens have been charged with armed robbery after they allegedly threatened to stab their victims with a pair of scissors and made off with their backpacks.

Police will allege the 15-year-old boys were involved in an incident near the intersection of Shields and Sheridan Streets in Cairns City on Tuesday night, stealing backpacks from a 14-year-old and 19-year-old at 6.15pm.

Officers further alleged the two boys then threatened to stab the victims, producing a pair of scissors while making those threats.

“Both boys had also allegedly been involved in previous stealing incidents,” a spokeswoman for Queensland Police Service said.

The 15-year-old Mooroobool boy has been charged with two counts of robbery armed while in company, and two counts of stealing.

In addition, the 15-year-old Mount Sheridan boy has been charged with two counts of robbery armed while in company, and one count of stealing.

Both boys are due to appear before Cairns Childrens Court on November 6.
