Tree-lopper dies after falling from tree at Clifton Beach
Emergency services have been called to a northern beaches address but were unable to save the life of a man who was fatally injured after falling from a tree.
The workplace regulator is expected to investigate the events that led up to a man falling from a tree on Tuesday morning.
Emergency services were called to the tree-lopping accident on the northern beaches of Cairns at about 8am.
Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics were called to a private address on Satellite Street in Clifton Beach after a man was critically injured in a “significant” fall from a tree.
“It looks like paramedics assessed a male patient in a life-threatening condition,” a spokeswoman said.
Despite efforts to save the man he was declared dead at the scene.
Police stated officers will prepare a report for the Coroner following the non-suspicious sudden death of a 63-year-old man.
“Preliminary information suggests around 8.30am police and emergency services were called to a private property after a man fell while carrying out tree lopping work,” the police spokeswoman said.
“He sustained serious injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.”
It’s understood the death will be investigated by the Workplace Health and Safety Queensland and police are assisting with their investigations.
A Workplace Health and Safety Queensland spokesperson confirmed the incident.
“Workplace Health and Safety Queensland has been notified of an incident that occurred at Clifton Beach today, Tuesday 25 November,” the spokesperson said.
“WHSQ Inspectors have responded and an investigation has been initiated, no further comment can be made at this time.”
