Traffic blocked on Bruce Hwy, near Mirriwinni after bus fire
The Bruce Highway has reopened to traffic south of Cairns, following reports of a bus on fire on Tuesday afternoon.

Part of the Bruce Highway has been reopened to traffic, following a bus fire near Mirriwinni, 64km south of Cairns, following reports of a bus on fire on Tuesday afternoon.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman confirmed the southbound lane was open to traffic as of 5.50pm following reports of a bus fire.
A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman confirmed crews responded to reports of a bus on fire on the Bruce Highway, near Buckland Road around 4.50pm.
“The report came through as a bus on fire,” the spokeswoman said.
“It looks like the vehicle was partially on the road.”
The fire was extinguished just after 5.30pm.
The QFD spokeswoman confirmed all passengers self-evacuated from the vehicle.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed crews were on scene assessing patients.
“We’re assessing 11 people on scene to make sure they’re okay,” the spokeswoman said.
“It doesn’t look like anyone’s injured.”
